Clear Debt Solutions Limited no longer exists

The Preston debt recovery firm that used this web address was wound up in January 2013 and removed from the register of companies in July 2021. This page explains what happened and where to get free help.

This is not the former company. This website is published independently. It is not Clear Debt Solutions Limited, is not connected to it, its liquidator or any successor, and cannot deal with a claim, a refund or a case file.

Looking for ClearDebt, the IVA company? That is a different business.

ClearDebt Limited (company 05157741) of Hale, Cheshire, has proposed and administered IVAs since 2004 and is still trading at cleardebt.co.uk. It has nothing to do with the dissolved Preston company described on this page. Three quick checks: the name is one word, not three with “Solutions” on the end; the company number on your paperwork is 05157741, not 05940444; and the letters came from Cheshire, not Preston.

Background

What happened to the company

Clear Debt Solutions Limited was incorporated in September 2006 and traded from Dockland House on Anchorage Business Park in Ashton on Ribble, Preston. The public record describes its business as debt collection — it was engaged by people and businesses who were owed money, to chase it on their behalf, typically for a fee paid up front. It was not a debt management company, and there is no record of it ever running debt management plans or IVAs for people in debt.

The company ran into trouble more than once. A strike-off notice was published in 2009 but not carried through. A winding-up petition was brought in the High Court in July 2012 and dismissed that November. On 14 January 2013 the company passed a resolution to wind itself up, entering creditors' voluntary liquidation, with Donna Louise Cartmel of Unique Business Recovery Limited in Bolton appointed liquidator. A replacement liquidator was appointed in 2020, the final meeting was returned in April 2021, and the company was dissolved on 14 July 2021.

Your money

If you paid this company and never got your money

Anyone owed money by the company when it was wound up in January 2013 — including customers owed a refund of fees — became an unsecured creditor in the liquidation. Whether unsecured creditors received anything is recorded in the liquidator's final return, filed in April 2021 and downloadable free from the Companies House link above.

The company has been dissolved. It no longer exists in law, so a claim cannot now be made against it without a court order restoring it to the register — an expensive step that is rarely worth it for a consumer debt. If a lot of money is involved, take proper legal advice before spending anything on it.

If a debt collection agency is contacting you about a debt and you are not sure it is genuine, do not pay anything until you have checked. Ask for it in writing, ask who the original creditor was, and get free advice using the services below. You have the right to ask a creditor to prove a debt is yours.
